CHRONIC NONCOMMUNICABLE DISEASES
Chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and respiratory diseases, are the leading cause of death in Argentina as well as in the rest of the world. They are long-lasting conditions with a generally slow progression.
Risk factors for NCDs are highly prevalentable in Argentina. According to the National Survey of Risk Factors 2018 (ENFR 2018), 62% of the population is overweight. (25% are obese and 36% are overweight), 34% have high blood pressure, 29% have high cholesterol, and 12% have diabetes, these being the risk factors with the greatest impact on cardiovascular mortality.
As for the causes of cancer mortality, they are led by lung, colorectal, breast, prostate and pancreatic cancer.
