INFANT, is a nonprofit organization founded by Argentinian doctors in 2003, whose mission is to investigate the causes of respiratory diseases that severely affect children, such as asthma, bronchiolitis, pneumonia and influenza.
INFANT’s findings are used by public institutions (Ministry of Health, hospitals, Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, etc.) and other academic institutions to better prevent and cure these diseases.
As part of its mission, the Foundation trains Argentinian researchers with the highest academic and scientific standards.
At INFANT, our researchers (physicians, biologists and biochemists) work for:
- Discover the causes of children asthma and enable the development of a vaccine.
- Find strategies to prevent against respiratory viruses that cause bronchiolitis, pneumonia and influenza.
- Better understand the protective mechanism of breast milk in respiratory diseases.
- Detect groups at risk of AH1N1 influenza in our country.
